Old Town Charm } 20th November '05

[

These are present day scenes from my hometown, Penang.

Bubbles and I were on a little sightseeing around the old town in Penang. This historic area speaks of a bygone era where the British once colonised this island and left its mark.

When you drop by my hometown, do visit Beach Street, Light Street, Pitt Street and Chulia Street. Many of the buildings are still in their original state since Malaya's independence. A little nostalgia....

It was too bad that it started to rain right after I took the last photo in this page. I plan to go back on a sunny day to take more photos. :D

.01 CHINESE SHOPHOUSE
.............the front of a Chinese shophouse, which is now vacant. One can know which family is staying in the shophouse by the red signboard on the front door.

.02 TEXTURE
............. a little texture of an old wooden door.

.03 PARKING METER
............. Parking is still inexpensive in Penang. It's 10 Malaysian cents for 10 minutes.

.04 COLONIAL BUILDINGS
............. the building on the left is the old office of Malayan Railway (1907)
. The sky became overcast when this photo was taken.
