We saw the Eastern Coast } 1st May '06

Again, this trip was made possible with my photo friends.

This time we toured along the Eastern Coast in Peninsular Malaysia. Each beach along the eastern coast has its own characteristic. So, sit back and enjoy the scenery!

"Pantai" is the malay word for "Beach". I placed the original Malay name to each place so that u may come to visit next time!

Peaz is wearing a dress handmade by me. Awana's skirt is also handmade and stonewashed.

.01 Pantai Cherating (Cherating Beach)
This is awarded the best beach by me, cos the sky is blue, the sea is dark blue and the sand is like talcum powder. And when the wind blows, all the sand just get stuck onto my lens... yup! the sand is that fine.

Peaz sitting on the rocks, that's the perfect blue sky which I have not seen in a long time.

.02 Kijal

This beach has a bit of a fishy stench as it is where the fishing boats comes back with their catch. It's nice to catch a glimpse of the local daily life. The Eastern coast has freshest seafood in Malaysia.

Windy!

Pantai Kemasik in Kemaman District
This beach has two beautiful rocky features, coarse sand and strings of seashells littered by the waves. I love the scenery but I do not really like walking on the sand.. Ouch!

It is almost sunset when we reached this beach, thus the beautiful skyline.

Peaz and Awana on the rocky features.

Picking seashells on the seashore

It's sunset!

.04
Pantai Dungun
This beach has a rock feature which overlooks a turquoise sea. The waters are so clear that u can see slabs of rock on the shoreline. When we arrive, we could see young boys jumping off the rock into the sea.

Awana takes an afternoon nap, unaware that a casuarina seed has fallen on her.

.05
Marang
The beach in Marang is special. It has an idyllic laguna protected by two lines of breakwaters. When there's a storm you can see a raging sea on one side of the breakwaters and a calm laguna on the other.

Awana's sitting on a wooden structure built by the fishermen. Every evening, a handful of fishermen will hang out at the breakwaters.

Another breakwaters shot. The strong yellow rays of sunset shine brightly on my gals.

Penarik
Penarik is a coastal village with a large coconut plantation, where you can see the daily lives of the locals. The lifestyle is relaxing in these areas.

Peaz watches as a local man harvest the coconuts. He ties a string to a monkey who rapidly climbs into the leaves and plucks the coconuts. This shot captured a tossed coconut in mid air. You will not be able to see the monkey as it is hidden in the palms.

Peaz sits on a plucked coconut beside a fishing boat.

Just the two of them relaxing on the log.

I love this shot :)

Peaz and Mr fisherman resting after a long day's work. The children playing around the kampung houses in the far background.

This parting shot of Peaz is taken against a calm mangrove lake.
