:: Gothic Lolita Culture ::
Gothic & Lolita is a relatively young subculture which dates back to 1997. There are different variations of the Lolita look and the Gothic Lolita is only one variation. The other looks are the Classic Lolita and the Sweet Lolita.
One of the major influences of the Gothic & Lolita look is the "Visual Kei", which are Visual Rock bands. Male members of the band often wear makeup and feminine clothing. This popularised the Gothic & Lolita look iand brought about a fashion revolution

in Harajuku, but in High Humidity KL.

During the weekends, youths will hang out in the Harajuku to show off their latest Gothic Lolita fashion. This is viewed by many as an escapism from the daily monotonous life as well as a way to gain attention.
Although the word "Gothic" is present in Gothic & Lolita, it is widely differentiated from Goth. Instead, Gothic & Lolita is like a stylized emulation of Victorian style clothing.
Due to its uniqueness (morbidness to some), the Gothic & Lolita genre has become well established and is to stay for a period of time.

Chiffon makes a lovely Lolita gal. She is not too Goth, just pale
with light makeup. She wears a velvet dress inspired by Classic
Lolita dresses in the Gothic & Lolita Bible magazine.
